Music & Life.. by Alan Watts

i was browsing aimlessly today when i stumbled upon this video.. i don't know why is it that goofy cartoons narrated by a guy with an accent grab my sole attention every time.. but this time at least the video was the answer to the mystery of life, so it was worth it.

Super Smash Brothers: Brawl!

So brawl is FINALLY out..

yes the graphics aren't up to date and the online is crap and the load times are horrible BUT it's still the single most best fighting game ever.. the sheer depth of controls, items, unlockables, replay value and the character roster are high enough to obscure those pansy setbacks..

Thanks Nintendo!

rolling down europe on a narrow slope..

five days for traveling between 3 countries isn't that much time to fully delve into every hidden celebrated corner and discover something you didn't see on HDTV already, specially if your traveling with a group of 8 people. But the 5 days were miraculously saved by the chaos, GPS and some vague but later proven to be good plans.

three days in Amsterdam, coolest thing here is just walking around all day.. what sucks though is if your not used to it in around 72 hours of walking you will eventually hear your legs pleading for mercy.

on the 4th day we set out to Belgium, our rental Ford Transit was more than comfortable and simply quite amazing.. the plan was to head to Brussels but one of my friends wanted to check the local Nokia store in Antwerp, it was on the way anyway so we headed there.

although the local Nokia store was completely shit "in fact it was decent.. but my dear friend has all the phones there anyway, rendering the De-tour kinda pointless" the little place it brought us to was rewarding enough for compensation, it feels more lively than the streets of Amsterdam, and they offer free hugs.

after we refueled on food, beverages, hugs. We headed to Brussels.

we stayed one night in Brussels and were supposed to head to Luxembourg the next day, but we thought it's in everyone's best interest to go back to Amsterdam.

Persepolis

continuing my modest efforts to please the two people that reluctantly read this blog, i bring you here yet another brief review of a great animated film i saw recently: Persepolis.

This movie is based on the french autobiographical novel of the same name. It was written and directed by Marjane Satrapi & Vincent Paronnaud. Basically it tells the story of Marjane, and it begins when she was 9 years old living with her relatively open-minded family during the events of the falling monarchy in Iran and the Islamic revolution that came after it in the late 1970's. The Movie's strong point is simplicity, it illustrates the story in simple black and white cartoony style animations, which blends very well with the great music and creates a style of it's own. I don't think i can describe whether the movie is too funny or too dramatic since it has both elements in abundance, some scenes are uplifting while others are very dramatic. In short this movie is truly a vibrant masterpiece that is told with style and passion and i highly recommend it for anybody who remotely likes movies/animation.

The King of Kong, A fistful of Quarters

Here's a documentary i saw yesterday that turned out to be much better than i expected, it follows Steve Wiebe as he tries to take the world high score of the classic arcade game "Donkey Kong" from world champion Billy Mitchell, this is all based on real people and real events.. and has dramatic moments and a lot can be learned from what the characters go through to achieve their goals.. Must see for anyone who likes competitive gaming or classic retro games.
